Schedule
There are three major units in this course because there are three major types of functions that will be discussed. The process expectations will permeate throughout the course as will the theme of 'functions' and 'applications'. Since the exploration of each function will be student directed, the schedule is to be used as a general guideline.
Week 1-6 Quadratic Functions
Week 7-12 Exponential Functions
Week 13-18 Trigonometric Functions
Week 1-6 Quadratic Functions
- Real-life Applications
- Quadratic Specific Skills (factoring, quadratic formula)
- Function Skills (Graphical <-> Algebraic representations, Transformations, Characteristics, Domain and Range)
Week 7-12 Exponential Functions
- Introduce Function Notation
- Real-life Applications
- Quadratic Specific Skills (exponential laws, solving for exponents)
- Function Skills (Graphical <-> Algebraic representations, Characteristics, Domain and Range)
Week 13-18 Trigonometric Functions
- Real-life Applications
- Quadratic Specific Skills (geometry)
- Function Skills (Graphical <-> Algebraic representations, Transformations, Characteristics, Domain and Range)
